Before White Oak Farms became a wholesale tree grower, the Jones Family purchased the land in the early 70s. In 1975, the original home to the land burned down. Instead of building a new home, the Jones family purchased a home from the local town of Monroe, Georgia. This home came with a twist, however. The original home was built in 1878 and was currently being used as a funeral home. But that didn’t stop Mr. Jones from falling in love with the history. After purchasing the home, he had it transferred from its location in Monroe to its current location in Social Circle. It still stands their proudly today and serves as the family meeting point for many family holiday traditions. 

Mr. Jones began growing trees in 1985 with a small tract. By 1989, the tree farm was a 10-acre operation. It’s name, White Oak Farms, was inspired by the beautiful White Oak tree (over 350 years old) that stands central to the home and land. over 350 years old. When Mr. Jones retired as CEO of a prominent civil engineering consulting firm, he began to focus solely on his family enterprise. The family business is still alive and thriving today, adding to the 30 years since its origination.
