GROWTH HABIT: 65’-75’ high with a 25''spread. Symmetrical, oval pyramid shape. Large, deciduous, broadleaf tree. Slow to moderate growth rate. Prefers moist, deep, well-drained clay.
FOILAGE: Dark green that turn scarlet to purple in fall.
BARK: Dark gray almost black with irregular ridges.
LANDSCAPE VALUE: Excellent specimen tree due to its vibrant fall color. Native shade tree that works well in urban settings like buffer strips, or median planting; tolerates urban air pollution. Native tree with few pests or diseases once established.
